Sweet Fresh Air were formed in 1973 and played in local clubs and pubs performing a repertoire of varied songs, a majority of which was their own material.

The band played and toured together for three years including slots on Radio Bristol and Radio Gloucestershire and a performance  at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

The band eventually split to concentrate on getting proper jobs and starting families in 1976, but the lure of music was too great and the band re-formed in 1998. With the original members Pete Blackwell, Ian Smith, Phil Close, Rodger Smith. Rodger and Phil left the band in 2003 to pursue other interests, but still keep in contact.

Since 2006 line up comprised of original members
Pete Blackwell and Ian Smith, who were joined by Dave Scott and Richard Lucas. Whilst remaining faithful to the original concepts, the energy level has risen with the new members.

Summer 2005 and there is another change in the line up. Due to other commitments, Dave Scott has had to put his bass down and leave the band and Sweet Fresh Air were auditioning for a new bass player. After putting him through his paces, Sweet Fresh Air gave the post of bass-man to a local musician, Bruce Burn.

He has brought a new feel to the band. We played our first gig together at The Laurels, Inchbrook and everyone felt comfortable with the new line up. We then played as trio at a great party at Hammond's Farm - even without Richard's brilliant drumming, we managed to stay tightly in time. We are now looking forward to the next gig. when Rich is back behind his drum kit.
